KS Bharat announces retirement from international cricket

Former India wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharat has announced his retirement from international cricket at the age of 32.

Bharat represented India in seven Tests between 2023 and 2024, scoring 221 runs at an average of 20.09. He was initially called up as a back-up keeper for India’s tour of West Indies, before making his debut in the 2023 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

His final Test match was against England in Visakhapatnam in February 2024.

“With a proud heart and a sense of gratitude, I announce my retirement from international cricket. To play for my country has been the greatest honour of my life,” Bharat said in a post on social media.

He went on to thank the BCCI, Andhra Cricket Association, VDCA, as well as his captains Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, and coach Rahul Dravid.

Bharat has also made 10 IPL appearances for Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals, scoring 199 runs in them.
