In our Get real India segment, watch our ground report from Uttar Pradesh’s Mahoba district, where people are facing a severe water crisis in Kabrai village in this intense summer. Residents face a daily struggle, queuing up at sunrise for water tankers. With basic infrastructure failing to deliver, locals are forced to rely on makeshift ‘kichu’ hand pumps, purchased at their own expense for 1,000 rupees, rather than government schemes. A water tank constructed using local MLA funds years ago remains non-functional. While authorities assure that regular water supply will be restored soon, sceptical villagers state they will only believe the promises once the water actually reaches their homes.
