Teen dies after zipline hook snaps at Agra Chowpati; safety incharge, manager detained
15-year-old boy tragically died after falling from a zipline at Agra Chowpati when a hook allegedly broke.

AGRA: A 15-year-old boy died after falling from a zipline ride at Agra Chowpati — an adventure and entertainment venue — around 5.30pm on Sunday evening when the rope’s calibre hook allegedly broke, police said, adding that the Chowpati manager and safety incharge have been into custody. People took Kumal Agrawal, from Firozabad, to SN Medical College, where doctors declared him dead.After receiving information, a team from Tajganj police station reached the spot, inspected the ride and questioned staff members present there at the time of the incident. Officials said they were also checking the maintenance record of the ride and the role of those responsible for operating it.Police said they were examining whether safety checks had been carried out before the ride was opened to visitors, and whether proper equipment, supervision and emergency response arrangements were in place. Further action will depend on the post-mortem report, technical inspection of the ride, safety records and statements from those at the spot.ADCP (crime) Himanshu Gaurav told TOI, “Initial investigation revealed that the incident was caused due to the breaking of the rope’s calibre hook. The body has been sent for post-mortem. Other necessary legal proceedings are underway.””
