Grizz Chapman, best known for playing Tracy Jordan’s loyal bodyguard on ’30 Rock’, has passed away. He was 52.News of Chapman’s death was confirmed on Friday by his longtime friend and co-star Kevin Brown, who portrayed Dot Com on the series alongside Chapman. “I regret to inform you that Mack Chapman aka Grizz Chapman passed today,” Brown wrote on Facebook while sharing stills of the two actors from the sitcom. “May he RIP.”According to TMZ, Chapman’s longtime representative provided no further details about the cause of death. The outlet reported that the actor’s wife and two children are “devastated” by the loss.Following the news of his passing, Harlem Globetrotter Donte Harrison, also known as “Hammer,” paid tribute to Chapman on Instagram, revealing that the actor had been battling health issues for years and was undergoing dialysis treatment. In an Instagram tribute, he wrote, “Life gave my cousin Grizz Chapman some heavy battles, but he fought them with strength and dignity until the very end. A lot of people knew him as the sitcom star from 30 Rock, but we knew the man behind the screen. A good heart, good energy, and somebody who made an impact in this life.”He went on to add, “After years of fighting illness and dialysis, he passed peacefully in his sleep on May 22nd, 2026. I’m thankful we got time to reconnect 2 months before his passing. Rest easy, cousin. Your name and legacy will live on forever.”Chapman became a fan favourite through his role as Grizz, Tracy Jordan’s imposing yet calm bodyguard and close confidant on 30 Rock. His character frequently appeared alongside Dot Com in comedic scenes opposite Tracy Morgan.Beyond acting, Chapman created a series of YouTube comedy sketches titled Grizz Chroniclez, which featured him in a variety of humorous skits.The actor shared his final Instagram post on May 17, showing him dancing at a convention beside an image of actor Sean Astin.
