Koraput: A 35-year-old man was arrested by Malkangiri police from Jagatsinghpur on Friday for allegedly running a fake govt job recruitment racket by circulating unauthorised pamphlets promising employment in the health department. Police seized three mobile phones and pamphlets used for the alleged recruitment drive from the accused, Biswajit Jena.Police said they registered the FIR suo motu after receiving information about a fraudulent “Niyukti Mela” (recruitment fair) being organised in Malkangiri.Police sources said Jena had allegedly circulated fake advertisements offering jobs in the health department, including security guards and health workers in community health centres (CHCs) and primary health centres (PHCs). The pamphlets carried a mobile number allegedly used to contact job aspirants and lure them with false promises of employment.Police said the accused had no authorisation from any govt organisation or the health department to conduct recruitment. “During investigation, we found that the entire recruitment drive was unauthorised and meant to deceive people by promising non-existent jobs,” said Debadatta Mallick, IIC of Malkangiri police station.Police said probe is underway to ascertain whether more people were involved in the racket and to identify the number of victims. “We appeal to people to verify the authenticity of any recruitment notice through official government sources before making any payment or sharing personal details,” the IIC said.
