Hyderabad: Chaitanyapuri police have registered a case of ragging, assault and criminal intimidation against three minor students and the management of a private junior college in Kothapet after a first-year Intermediate student allegedly suffered a fractured nasal bone in an assault following a dispute over the college’s freshers’ party.The case was registered under relevant provisions of the BNS and the Telangana Prohibition of Ragging Act, 1997, based on a complaint lodged by the 17-year-old victim, a resident of Saroornagar.According to the complaint, the dispute began during a discussion over the freshers’ party planned as part of the college fest. Police said an argument broke out between the complainant and three second-year students, who allegedly abused and threatened him.After classes ended on Monday, the three seniors allegedly confronted the student outside the college and assaulted him. Police said one of the accused punched him in the face, fracturing his nasal bone.The student was shifted to a private hospital, where doctors confirmed the fracture and advised surgery.The complainant alleged that despite informing the college management about the assault, no action was taken against the seniors. Instead, the incident was allegedly dismissed as a ‘small matter’, prompting him to approach the police. The college management has also been booked for alleged negligence.“We are trying to establish the sequence of events, from the altercation inside the college to the assault outside. We are also collecting CCTV footage from the area,” the Chaitanyapuri inspector told TOI.Further investigation is underway.
